Potential Careers

“To me, Economics has the most real-world applications of any major. I use the knowledge and skills gained from my Economics degree daily in my work as Director of Economic Development [in my district] for the U.S. House of Representatives. Understanding basic economic principles, accounting, and finance is beneficial no matter what industry you enter upon graduation. The professors in the Economics department challenged and encouraged me, and I left Georgetown College prepared for graduate school and my eventual career in government.”

 - Alyshia Powell Martin, ’14, Director of Economic Development, for Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06)

“Majoring in Economics at Georgetown College provided me the base knowledge needed in any line of business I choose to pursue. Not only did the professors provide me the technical skills and understanding of Economics, the department provided me the fundamental skills necessary to self-teach concepts and the ability to understand information on my own. It is an invaluable tool that I will not only use during my career, but throughout my entire life.”

 - Neal Pawsat, ’15, Audit Associate, KPMG
